Travelling here by bus or by train can be a pleasure in itself, the East Coast Main Line passes through the AONB and was recently voted England’s most scenic rail route. The Coast and Castles Connection Bus Service is a great way to get about and you helping us to conserve and enhance this beautiful place.
Arriving by Train
There are mainline stations at Alnmouth and Berwick-upon-Tweed, East Coast trains from London and Scotland call here as do CrossCountry trains from South West England, the Midlands and Scotland.
Getting Here By Bus
The Northumberland Coast is quite well served by buses but the more people who use them, the better the service will get.
Arriva operate the Coast and Castles Connection service which links Newcastle to Berwick via Morpeth, Alnwick and the Coast. Arriva also operate services between South East Northumberland and Amble.
Travelsure and Perrymans buses also operate services on the Northumberland Coast between Berwick-upon-Tweed and Alnwick as well as the Holy Island bus service.
Arriving By Car
From the A1 travelling south, turn right onto the B6347/B1340 signposted Christan Bank/Seahouses. (From the North, turn left onto the B6347/B1340). By remaining on the B1340 this will take you past both Beadnell and Seahouses.
For Sand Haven Cottage – as you reach Beadnell, ignore the first turning (beadnell village) and continue to take the next right turn onto Harbour Road (beside local shops), turn second right onto Longstone Crescent, travel along this road and take next left. At t-junction turn right for Longstone Park, Sand Haven is the second house on the right.
For Sea Haven Cottage – Travel past Beadnell and as you come into Seahouses, you will see a Garage on the left hand side, Dunstan View is on the right hand side. Sea Haven Cottage is No 1. Parking for the cottage is directly behind the cottage and is clearly marked.
